National Tree Day

26 July 2015

National Tree Day on Sunday 25 at the Dog Rocks Sanctuary had to be one of the coldest days of the winter with the temperature not exceeding 11°C in the morning, with showers and a freezing wind. But this didn’t deter the 40 adults and 10 children who came along to do their bit for the environment. It proved that inclement weather is no excuse, it just requires appropriate clothing! So we all rugged up like ski bunnies.

We planted 1,000 trees, shrubs, groundcovers and grasses in the Sanctuary. It was a great effort and the children loved being out in the bush exploring and planting. BFS Landcare members provided a delicious home-made morning tea to keep the workers warm.
