Year 9 students planting grasses and trees near the river

National Tree Day for Schools 2022

Friday 29 July 2022

On Friday 29 July Covenant College year 9 students joined members of the City of Greater Geelong environment conservation team and BFS Landcare volunteers to plant several hundred native grasses and shrubs along the river in the Moorabool River Reserve.

This planting is assisting with maintaining and increasing the health of the river banks, the riparian zone and its biodiversity.

Later BFS Landcare provided a barbecue lunch at a local member’s property. The students then explored the Dog Rocks Reserve and completed the day with an hour’s boneseed weed pulling in the Dog Rocks Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
